Sustainability
SPEED BUILT IS COMMITTED TO CREATING STEEL BUILDINGS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Sustainability is at the heart of our plan of action and operations. Sustainability is and will continue to be our prime focus as we work towards our long- term Vision & Strategy.
Steel has been central to human progress and steel buildings will continue to be inherent to society because it is strong, durable, flexible, and reusable. Steel is the most easily recycled material, making it perfect for a circular economy.
At Speed Built, we provide the latest technology in steel buildings for the next generation. For Speed Built, that means our steel buildings need to evolve to become smarter and more sustainable.
We must prepare for and respond to the most significant long-term environmental and social trends transforming the world in which we operate. The integration of sustainable behaviour and practices into our operations is essential by ensuring our steel raw material suppliers are accountable for a circular and low-carbon economy.
Working towards a sustainable future is critical to Speed Built. At Speed Built, we are introducing the highest standards of sustainability to our operations, across the steel construction spectrum – from the way we manufacture steel and use our resources, to how we develop new products and support our people and communities.
The following has been articulated by Speed Built to provide the framework for engaging in sustainability and they are as follows :
-
*Safe, healthy, quality working lives for our people
Our workforce is safe and healthy, committed to our success and operates with integrity. Diversity is valued and every individual is respected and their potential developed.
-
*Products that accelerate more sustainable lifestyles
Architects, Consultants, Designers, etc., choose steel because they understand that its strength, formability, and recyclability are vital in developing innovative solutions for sustainable development.
-
*Products that create sustainable infrastructure
Steel is the favoured material for construction and infrastructure projects because the firms that design and build them – and the governments and public bodies that commission and approve them – recognize and appreciate the true value it will add, now and in the future.
-
*Efficient use of resources and high recycling rates
We make sure that our steel raw material suppliers use both raw materials and recycled inputs in the most efficient way, so that we're creating significant value for our customers and shareholders, as well as contributing to the goals of a circular economy.
-
*Trusted user of air, land, and water
The outcome we need is for our stakeholders to trust us, and to share the vital resources of air, land and water. They will do this because we operate responsibly and transparently, by demonstrating the want to reduce our negative environmental impacts and work in collaboration with partners and local communities to enhance the natural resources we all rely on.
-
*Responsible energy user that helps create a lower-carbon future
Our stakeholders trust that we are focused on raw materials suppliers that operate on energy efficient, manufacturing process that helps significantly cut the carbon they emit to help create a low-carbon future.
-
*Supply chains that our customers trust
Customers trust that we meet or exceed their environmental, social and governance expectations, both in our raw materials and manufacturing process.
-
*Active and welcomed member of the community
We want our communities to have confidence that we will anticipate and address the impacts we have on the local community and environment, to see us as partners in their socio-economic development and to trust us to have an open dialogue whenever challenges arise.
-
*Pipeline of talented engineers for tomorrow
We have built a healthy pipeline of well-trained and talented engineers, and technicians, both for our future and society.
-
*Our contribution to society is measured, shared and valued
We can show the value of the contributions we make to society and enable our stakeholders to understand how well we can work together.
